The influence that William Shakespeare had on the English language is unparalleled. With poetry and plays he expanded the scope of the language by introducing new vocabulary and phrases. Many estimate that he created several thousand new words (I mean, don’t you just love the words, spatherdab, fustilug, and gongoozler?)
And Shakespearean insults are quite amazing:
“Thou crusty botch of nature!”
“Thou lump of foul deformity!”
“Thou leathern-jerkin, crystal-button, knot-pated, agatering, puke-stocking, caddis-garter…”
Well, you get the idea…
So, while you’re studying the Bard, why not make some art too?
