The influence that William Shakespeare had on the English language is unparalleled. With poetry and plays he expanded the scope of the language by introducing new vocabulary and phrases. Many estimate that he created several thousand new words (I mean, don’t you just love the words, spatherdab, fustilug, and gongoozler?)

And Shakespearean insults are quite amazing:

“Thou crusty botch of nature!”
“Thou lump of foul deformity!”
“Thou leathern-jerkin, crystal-button, knot-pated, agatering, puke-stocking, caddis-garter…”

Well, you get the idea…

So, while you’re studying the Bard, why not make some art too?

Alisha and Olivia have chosen 12 of the Shakespeare’s most famous plays to create FUN mixed media art pieces with. Use the same quotes we use or find your own favorites, and tap into the Elizabethan wisdom of the Bard! 🤣
