Our Favorite Ways to Display Children’s Artwork

1. Create a portfolio through photo books.

One super practical way to display children’s artwork is to use the pieces to create photo books through photo services like Shutterfly, Snapfish, or Amazon Photos. The process varies from service to service, but the general idea is to take photos of the artwork or scan the pieces, upload them to the service of your choice, and then customize your book according to the service instructions.

Tip: Get your artist involved in the design process for the photo books. This gives him a chance to take ownership of the curation process and practice digital design skills.

After you upload and design, the photo service prints the photo book and sends it to you. These books can serve as portfolios for your artists and can be displayed like a coffee table book for all to enjoy. They can also be shelved and rotated out with newer photo books or shared as gifts.

2. Include easy-change hanging options.

It can be tricky to work your children’s artwork into your normal home decor. After all, there’s only so much available wall space at any given time. What’s more, adding more and more nail holes to the walls is definitely not my idea of a good time.

That’s where easy-change frame options come into the picture. They’re perfect for displaying artwork from your children because you hang them once and just change out the artwork as needed. That allows the individual art pieces to be displayed, but in a thoughtful, planned way that works with your decor for the long haul.

Need some easy-change frame inspiration? Magnetic poster hanging frames and artwork display frames are a good place to start. (We have the magnetic poster frames in nearly every room; they’re super handy and perfect for changing out artwork easily.)

3. Make a gallery wall.

Instead of displaying a piece of art here and there throughout your home, you could create a gallery wall especially for artwork. This option for displaying artwork from children creates a fun “wow factor” in your home and can even boost a young artist’s confidence through such a presentation.

To get started, consider a hanging wall display that offers the flexibility of easy-change frames, but with more spaces for display. If you want an even larger display area, use your artwork to create an art exhibition space in your home. Then you can change up the displayed pieces from season to season or year to year.

Additional Art Display Ideas

Portfolio books, easy-change displays, and galleries are all great options for displaying artwork from kids, but you can also use the following display ideas to showcase artwork in a variety of ways. That means these are all flexible enough to fit into gallery-style displays or to incorporate your artist’s work throughout your home.

  • This wall grid uses clips and hooks to display items. That makes it easy to customize the display and make adjustments for your artist’s favorite pieces.
  • Display stands are good for holding pieces that can’t hang on a wall due to weight or thickness of the substrate used.
  • Use heavy duty magnetic clips to attach artwork to metal wall hangings. In particular, look for large metal pieces with surfaces that will allow you to showcase two or three pieces.

In closing, remember that it can be super easy to display artwork from your kiddos in your home. All it takes is some creativity and planning to give those masterpieces the attention they deserve. 🙂
