We have a purple martin birdhouse in our yard near a row of yellow bell (forsythia) bushes, but each year, to my delight, it is actually occupied by bluebirds instead! Batik is an art form technique involving hot wax-resist dyeing applied to cloth. This ancient technique originated in Java, Indonesia. Eventually, it came to Malaysia, and then migrated on to India, where it has been used for centuries to create intricate, colorful patterns in clothing!
