Compete a Harry Potter inspired mixed media art project with this fun art tutorial. Turn on the Light” Mixed Media Art Tutorial

And we’re back with Day 4
You will need:
- 8×10 canvas or canvas panel
- Acrylic paints in the colors of your choice
- Paint brushes and/or sponge brush
- Pencil
- white Sharpie (water based) or gel pen
- Lantern PDF
Step 1: Paint your canvas background in the color of your choice, though preferably in a dark shade of color.

Step 2: Trace the PDF image of the lantern onto the middle of your canvas.
Step 3: Add the quote! I wrote mine out with a pencil in cursive, but if you want you could just as easily type and print it out from a Word document, then use Mod Podge to glue it down. The quote we are using is from Professor Dumbledore in Prisoner of Azkaban:
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

Step 4: Paint it in! I used a light yellow for the light inside the lantern, and a darker tan/brass color for the lantern itself.
Step 5: Outline the words! If you wrote the quote out by hand, use your white Sharpie to outline them. If you printed the words out, use a black pen or Sharpie to outline the word blocks like we did in Day 1.

And there you go! Our lantern to help bring the light even when times are dark!
P.S. I’d love to see your completed pieces! Follow the Masterpiece Society on Instagram and when you post your pic, tag me so I can repost it! Don’t forget to use the hashtag #masterpiecesociety.
Check back tomorrow and for our fifth and final Harry Potter inspired art piece!
