Art Through the Ages: Tribal Art

$65.00

Tribal Art is any type of visual artwork created by members of a tribe or ethnic group, or cultures of indigenous peoples, also referred to as First peoples, First Nations, or Native peoples. This includes painting, sculpture, carving, pottery, and weaving, as well as jewelry, body adornment, and other decorative objects.

Tribal Art is often characterized by its use of bright colors, geometric patterns, and stylized figures. It can be both functional and purely decorative. In many cases, it reflects the culture and values of the people who create it.

Some tribal cultures have a rich tradition of visual art, while others have only recently begun to explore this form of expression. However, all tribal art has the power to inspire and engage viewers from all walks of life.

In Tribal Art, we will create the following:

  1. Mayan Relief in Clay
  2. African Coil Pot in Clay
  3. Moia Sculpture in Clay
  4. Aztec Sun in Hojalata (Tin)
  5. Native American Thunderbird in Ink
  6. African Mask in Plaster Gauze
  7. Aboriginal Dot Painting in Acrylics
