Throughout history, self portraits have been a form of artistic expression that artists have used to explore their own identities, emotions, and experiences, while offering audiences a unique window into their inner worlds. Self portraits have been created in numerous mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and beyond. They are a way to experiment with style, composition, and narrative, enabling them to convey their innermost thoughts and emotions in visually compelling ways. Whether realistic or abstract, traditional or avant-garde, self-portraits offer endless possibilities for artistic exploration!

In this course, embark on a journey of self-expression with Olivia Gratehouse by painting 12 self portraits in the style of the great master artists! Create a quirky abstract piece with Pablo Picasso, play with vivid colors alongside Andy Warhol, paint a dreamy forest scene with Frida Kahlo, and many more—all while using your own selfies as reference!

With this course, we hope your older kids and teens will learn to see themselves from new points of view, think outside of the box, and experiment with different styles and poses! There is no right or wrong way to make a self-portrait, and we hope you’ll have as much fun as we did! So grab your cameras and selfie sticks, and let’s get creating!
