Hello! Thank you for stopping by. My name is Alisha and I’ve been married to Jason, the love of my life, for over 25 years now. We have three beautiful children – a daughter who recently graduated from college, a son who just graduated high school and a teenage son we are still homeschooling.
My days are filled with creating, painting, writing, drinking lots of tea, laughing with (and at) my family, and spontaneously bursting forth into song.
A New Twist on Art
As a mom who has homeschooled for over 17 years now, I always wanted something more than was available for art and artist study. There were plenty of “fill-in-the-blank” worksheets and coloring pages, as well as art “curriculum” that left my kids, utterly BORED!
Several years ago I began creating seasonal mixed media art courses to offer the homeschool community. These workshops give kids, teens, and moms a FUN, hands-on way to create beautiful works of art while learning about various art mediums. I have been thrilled by their tremendous success! (Please feel free to check out samplings of student artwork and see what moms are saying about my workshops.)
Now, I am offering a new series, Mixing with the Masters, which will be an exciting way to connect kids and teens with the old masters and some of their most famous works. By becoming involved in the same processes these artists used, the elements and principles of art will come ALIVE!
What Is Mixed Media Art?
Mixed media art is a fun and easy way to create because it is art without rules! The medium of choice is up to the artist’s tastes, moods and desires. It combines sketching, painting, lettering, stamping, cutting, pasting, and so much more! Mixed media creates an excellent outlet for self-expression and exploring your God-given creativity. With this art form, you must forget perfectionism and embrace the whimsical!
Art is a vitally important learning tool in any classroom, whether public or home school. Children who create art – sketches, paintings, sculptures, photographs, and crafts – not only experience the satisfaction of self-expression, but also learn to think in new ways.
Why the name, Masterpiece Society?
This name comes from Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) which says,
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
You are God’s masterpiece.
You are beautiful. You have value. You are a fine work of art, greater and worth more than any masterpiece ever created by human hands. When God created you, He used all His creative genius in doing so. You are a priceless, exquisite and precious work from the hand of God.
The Masterpiece Society is a place where God’s masterpieces can come together to create our own masterpieces!
